I’ve been trying to get around to creating a new portfolio for a long time now and I’ve just launched my new portfolio at http://portfolio.jamisonkissh.com. I attempted to keep the minimalist look of my blog that I adore but I’m not sure if I succeeded, please let me know what you think!

Facebook Rant Follow-Up
May 6th, 2009 § 0
A few weeks ago when I went to Paris and London for the week I made a bet with my friends that they couldn’t get 10,000 notifications to be waiting for me when I returned home. Well I got home and my friend’s account was disabled and my wall was erased. This sort of threw me into a ranting post about how hard it is to contact Facebook. Well alas my ranting and attempts at contact prevailed, tonight I learned that my friends old account has been enabled and my wall posts (all of them) are back.
I’ve yet to get an email back from Facebook nor am I sure that I will however someone within the company is listening even though it took them forever to get to taking any action.
Google Changed it’s Algorithm!
March 2nd, 2009 § 0
I’ve got some reason to believe that Google and the other search giants recently changed their algorithms. I work for Design Connection managing SEO for our site trying to rank highly for the term “house plans” however over the past couple of day’s I noticed that we dropped… significantly. We moved from six to thirteen overnight and have remained for nearly a week despite any content changes and recachings. I also just read an article on SEOMoz.org about how all of a sudden there is a lot of requests on ELance for writers to make hundreds of articles with their requested context. I’m going to take this as meaning that these SEO guys requesting these articles have realized that the algorithm changed and there is a new need for off site content. Not only do I need to work on social media I now need to work on getting related content off-site… well off to work I go!
This also leads me to think… is there not a good way to improve your ranking without being obnoxious and doing what most people consider spam? This is what really bothers the crap out of me with SEO.
A Side Project of Mine
January 21st, 2009 § 0
Well I’ve begun working on a side project at work to test a theory that if the url contains the search keyword you’re going to rank better. However I’m looking for a couple of things, the first and primary being constructive criticism and the second if you can think of anything else you’d like to see please let me know. Please check out our/my new site House Plans Connection. And please let me know what you think in the comments here.
Latest Project: House Plans
January 7th, 2009 § 0
As part of an SEO experiment my company and I are undertaking an attempt to get a site into number one for the search “house plans” purely using SEO techniques and little to no linking. When the project is underway I will post some updates as to how we’re doing and where we are. As well as one of the only inbound links to it.
Why (mt) is Awesome
December 15th, 2008 § 0
Well I’ve always been a fan of Media Temple (mt) since I began hosting with them back in the summer and here’s a reason why like them so much more compared to the hosting company that my company’s site is on.
Whenever I have an outage at work they never do anything to notify me (except once recently). Media Temple on the other hand has been having issues (I’ve noticed) with my cluster (#3) and my storage unit (#5) good luck on my part *rolls eyes*. Regardless (mt) sends out an email to let me know that my site is going down for maintinence for a period. Not only will they be on time it will be done and greatly improve my site’s reliability, I hope, since it’s been terrible the last two days.
Best of all Media Temple keeps a blog going where you can track all the big incidents, in case you’re curious it’s located here.
As a side note, my site may be unvailable during this period of planned maintinence late tonight.
No Traffic Growth in NYC since 2003?!
December 13th, 2008 § 0
According to a new NYimes.com article public transportation ridership grew in the years 2003 to 2008 however, traffic on main arteries in the city did not. Even though I don’t necesisarially believe that we humans are the primary cause for global warming I do somewhat support the whole “green initiative” thing that’s being undertaken by governments everywhere. I think that these ridership numbers show that all the green propaganda are helping push mass transportation. Just goes to show that something is going right in these tough times.
