Favorite Chatroulette Videos

Well since there’s this massive viral thing we’ve all come to love, Chatroulette I figured I might as well share some of the videos that have become my “favorites.” Some of them are slightly NSFW but nothing too raunchy. All the videos after the break, and just a warning… they’re not in any particular order.

Content Aware Photoshop

I saw a post from Jim On Light (@jimonlight) yesterday or the day before about Adobe’s new content aware tools but never got a chance to take a look at it. Today on Digg there was a video with details about it. I’ve included the video after the break but first I want to say that I’m pretty amazed by it. Their content aware “deletion”is absolutely amazing and I simply can’t wait to see it when it comes out.

Chat Roulette Improv Piano

One hell of an impressively creative use of Chat Roulette. This guy is sitting at a piano playing improv and reacting to what he sees. Watching this really makes me want to go find someone that knows how to play piano.

Sound Sculpture

This is a pretty awesome video that I just came across thanks to GOOD. I had never actually heard of a sound sculpture before seeing this but it’s a pretty cool concept and the video is absolutely amazing, I’ve got a deep respect for Daniel Franke, the creator and his efforts. Take a look:

One Minute Soundsculpture from Daniel Franke on Vimeo.

Notice the detail in this, the reflection on the floor, the lack of movement as the camera moves around and shakes. I’m simply in awe and would love to know a little more about this.

Is Social Media a Fad?

Posted: August 15th, 2009 | Author: Jamison "JAK" Kissh | Filed under: Internet, Jamison Kissh, Videos | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

I’ve always said and thought that social media is here to stay granted I may not like few of the things in it but as someone who consumes vast amounts on information daily via a vast number of sources I know social media and social networking is going nowhere. I feel as though social media is certainly going to play a huge role in the future and I’m even seeing that with the company for which I work. Social media is slowly becoming part of our business model and is slowly driving more traffic and that traffic is converting better and sharing our site at alarm (yet awesome) rates. I came across a video that Mashable had shared and it’s quite impressive and worth the watch.

Some of the numbers presented in this I’ve seen before and it’s done in a form that’s sort of getting old but it’s the numbers that are still the impressive part.

“Clear” Frosted Glass

Posted: July 31st, 2009 | Author: Jamison "JAK" Kissh | Filed under: Internet, Lighting, Photography, Theater, Videos | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

Jim on Light (@jimonlight) pointed this one out earlier this morning. He found this video:

Where the poster takes a piece of tape and puts it on his frosted glass divider and it’s “magically” clear. Turns out that there’s actually just some simple physics involved (regardless it’s still pretty amusing). Jim explains it all in his post entitled Frosted Glass VS Scotch Tape, I suggest you take a look at his explanation since he can do a much better job than I could ever hope to.

Great Minds on Wisdom

Mrod pointed out this video on Andrew Zuckerman’s blog. It’s a fairly inspirational video on wisdom by a series of great minds including Jane Goodol, Willie Nelson, Alan Arkin, Edward Kennedy, and many more. The video is a short video based around his new book. From my understanding you get both the video and the book when you purchase the book. I feel as though I’d almost be content with just the video. Regardless, go check it out at www.andrewzuckerman.com and let me know what you think.

Slip and Slide

Wow, it’s sure been a while since I last posted. I guess senior year really started to get crazy enough where I lost my free time. However on a happy note, today was my last day of classes and to celebrate that we made a giant slip and slide in our field. Below you’ll find a video of it.

I’m a strong advocate of any senior class doing this if you want a pretty fun non-destructive senior prank (like some of our school’s have been in the past). Our t1ypically strict administration almost encouraged this, they certainly did not discourage it. Our vice principal was nice enough to take his time getting over to stop us. One thing is for sure, the Thomaston High School Class of 2009 will certainly be remembered!

Phonebooth Animation

I’m prety entertained by this clip, I’m not sure if the audio clip is original or not however it’s still pretty amazing between the statistics and animation. The animation is pretty awesome, I’ve really got to learn how to do something like this.

How the Credit Crisis Works

Well I had a pretty good idea how the credit crisis works but I found a great visualization on it on Vimeo today. Great enough that I could even say I was amazed by it. Jonathan Jarvis did an excellent job with this visualization, you should take a look.
